Why It is called “ON GRID” System?
Because the system is controlled by Grid-Tied Inverter, which can handle two input power supply (i.e. Rooftop Solar & Main/Grid) and final output is delivered to operate the electric loads of any premises.
Also at the same time, if the Load demand is less than generation, the excess generated Solar Power can be exported to Grid through a Bi-Directional utility meter.
Therefore, any consumer can get benefit by opting for Net-Meter or Net-Billing process through out the year.
But during loadshedding, when there is no power in main Grid supply, excess generated power will not be allowed to fed to Grid as typical safety concerns.
However, ON-GRID Rooftop Solar system is the cost friendly solution compared to OFF Grid & Hybrid system

Why it is called “OFF Grid” system?
Some location, where Grid supply is not available or consumers suffer from frequent power cut, a suitable power back up with battery bank becomes absolute necessary.
In this situation there will be only single source of power i.e. Rooftop Solar Panel and the generated power will be fed to a OFF GRID Inverter, which is equipped with Solar Charge Controller too for charging the battery bank.
So that same stored power can be re-utilized when sunlight will not be available ( typically between 4PM to 8AM)
However, the cost factor of OFF Grid Solar system becomes much higher due to big size battery bank to cater the load for a long hours.

Why it is called “Hybrid” system?
Hybrid Solar Power is advanced level of ON-Grid System, which employs battery bank to store the power, even when Grid supply is not available.
So that excess amount power, which is supposed to be exported to Grid, but due to non-availability of main supply that power can be stored in battery set.
In this way, In this process, generated power becomes stored into household premises and can be utilized after 4PM to 8AM depending the battery size and load demand.
But same reason appears here that due to battery additional cost comes here too.
